OCE1001L Introduction to Oceanography Lab

This course is the lab component for OCE1001. This lab teaches the interdisciplinary aspects of physical, geological, chemical and biological oceanography. Students become acquainted with basic scientific and oceanographic concepts through hands-on studies and exploration of oceanic environments and are introduced to state-of-the art oceanographic equipment. State Course Description - USING THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD, CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS, AND DATA ANALYSIS, THIS COURSE WILL EXAMINE THE FUNDAMENTAL PROCESSES OF THE OCEAN SYSTEM, COMPOSED OF AN ATMOSPHERE, HYDROSPHERE, LITHOSPHERE, AND BIOSPHERE, THROUGH TIME. THE COURSE WILL ALSO EXPLORE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THESE SPHERES, INCLUDING CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF SCIENTIFIC THEORIES AND EMPHASIZE OCEANIC CONNECTIONS WITH HUMANITY.
