MAC1140 Pre-Calculus Algebra

Topics include: Graphing, solving equations and applications involving exponential and logarithmic functions; Systems of Equations, linear and nonlinear, two-variable and multivariable, and partial fractions; Matrices, inverses, determinants and Cramer's Rule; Sequences and Series, arithmetic sequences and partial sums, geometric sequences and series, Mathematical Induction, and the Binomial Theorem; Analytic Geometry, parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas, and transformations of conics; Introduction to Limits, the two-sided limit, the derivative, and limits to infinity. (Prerequisite: Appropriate placement scores, successful completion of college prep course or qualified developmental exemption or passed MAC 1105 with grade "C" or better or permission of chairperson). This course will help satisfy the graduation requirements of the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree.
