DSC4216 Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness in Emergency Management

This course examines principles, policies, and practices of hazard mitigation and preparedness in emergency management. Students explore risk assessment, mitigation planning, interagency coordination, and public education strategies to reduce impacts of natural and human-caused hazards. Through analysis of recent disasters, students evaluate mitigation effectiveness and apply tools that support safer, more resilient communities.
