Program Overview

Mission:

The Advanced Technical Certificate in Web Systems Software Development prepares students for employment in software development by developing advanced knowledge and skills in web technologies, cloud computing, database systems, software engineering, and project management.

Description:

The Advanced Technical Certificate in Web Systems Software Development consists of 18 credits designed to develop proficiency in client-server application development, cloud-based software systems, modern software development techniques, project management, and database design and administration.

Advanced Technical Certificate: This certificate builds upon prior college-level education to provide specialized technical knowledge and advanced workforce skills that support career advancement within the profession.

Outcomes:

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Implement internet-based client-server software systems.
  2. Develop applications using modern web programming languages and technologies.
  3. Design and implement database systems to support web applications.
  4. Implement Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud-based software systems.
  5. Apply current software project management techniques throughout the software development lifecycle.

Admission and Certificate Requirements

Admission:

  • Submit an Advanced Technical Certificate in Web Systems Software Development application.
  • Meet one of the following educational requirements:
    • Hold a conferred Associate in Arts (A.A.), Associate in Science (A.S.), Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.), or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from a regionally accredited institution.
    • Have completed at least 60 transferable college-level credits from a regionally accredited institution, including a minimum of 15 credits of General Education coursework, earned a grade of "C" or better in all core courses, meet all other admission requirements, and receive approval from the Department Chair.
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
  • Successfully complete all prerequisite courses required for the certificate.
  • Submit official transcripts from all previously attended postsecondary institutions. International transcripts must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

Completion:

  • Earn a grade of "C" or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.
