Program Overview

Mission:

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology prepares students for successful employment in engineering technology through high-quality instruction, applied learning, and an industry-aligned curriculum that develops technical expertise, analytical thinking, ethical practice, and lifelong learning.

Description:

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology prepares graduates for careers in industrial operations, manufacturing, mechanical design, construction design, systems engineering, and technical management. The upper-division curriculum builds upon technical education to develop advanced engineering technology competencies through applied learning and industry-aligned coursework.

2+2 Degree Completion Pathway: Students enter the program with an associate degree or transferable lower-division coursework and complete 60 upper-division credits to earn the Bachelor of Science degree.

Educational Objectives - Within several years of graduation, graduates are expected to:

  1. Apply engineering technology principles, effective communication, and teamwork to the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of technical systems.
  2. Use mathematical, scientific, and engineering technology concepts to analyze technical problems, develop practical solutions, and adapt to emerging technologies.
  3. Demonstrate ethical behavior, professionalism, and responsible engagement within their organizations and local and global communities.
  4. Engage in lifelong learning through continuous professional development, technical growth, leadership, quality improvement, and organizational excellence.

Outcomes:

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge, techniques, skills, mathematics, science, engineering principles, and modern engineering technology tools to solve broadly defined engineering problems.
  2. Design systems, components, or processes that meet specified requirements for broadly defined engineering technology problems.
  3. Communicate effectively using written, oral, and graphical methods in technical and nontechnical environments while identifying and applying appropriate technical literature.
  4. Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments, and analyze and interpret data to improve systems and processes.
  5. Function effectively as both a member and a leader of multidisciplinary technical teams.
