Program Overview
Mission:
The mission of the Broadcast Television Production program is to prepare students for employment as television and video production personnel. The program emphasizes academic knowledge, problem-solving skills, work ethic, and industry-specific occupational skills.
Description:
The Broadcast Television Production A.S. degree emphasizes comprehensive video production skills including studio and remote live productions as well as recorded field productions. Students gain experience in directing, producing, editing, lighting, audio, graphics, and camera operation.
College Credit Certificates That Lead to This Degree: Broadcast TV Production - 082400 and Television Studio Production - 097900 certificates are embedded within this degree. You may pursue the A.S. degree and also earn the certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue the certificates to develop or upgrade your skills. Contact your faculty or academic advisor for details and course options.
Outcomes:
Graduates of the program will be able to:

- Create marketing and distribution plans.

- Plan production sets and resources.
- Create appropriate lighting for productions.
- Record, mix, and edit audio resources.
- Operate control room equipment.
- Organize and edit video resources.
- Demonstrate safe and efficient work practices.
Completion Requirement:
- Earn a grade "C" or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.
