Program Overview

Mission:

The Photographic Technology program prepares students to develop creative and technical skills across photography, video, and digital media. Through hands-on learning and portfolio development, students gain experience using contemporary imaging tools and professional workflows.

Description:

Students receive aesthetic, technical, and conceptual training in photography and lens-based media. Coursework emphasizes visual storytelling, digital production workflows, portfolio development, and exhibition experience. Students work with evolving imaging technologies, including emerging AI-driven tools, while developing professional skills for careers in visual media or continued academic study.

Outcomes:

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Utilize a workflow that includes cameras, photographic equipment, and digital editing software.
  2. Develop skills in commercial, editorial, and fine arts photography.
  3. Demonstrate competency in the creative process and critical thinking.
  4. Demonstrate professional communication skills within creative teams.

Completion Requirement:

  • Earn a grade of “C” or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.

Graduates may pursue employment as photographers and visual media professionals, including roles such as Photographer, Commercial Photographer, Portrait Photographer, Photojournalist, Digital Imaging Specialist, and Content Creator/Visual Media Specialist.
