Program Overview

Mission:

The Operations Management Technology A.S. degree prepares students for entry-level employment in management or administration through an innovative curriculum that emphasizes student success, promotes diversity, and provides foundational knowledge and skills aligned with local industry needs.

Description:

This Limited Access Program provides graduates of certificate and registered apprenticeship programs with additional technical and supervisory skills while strengthening general education competencies for entry-level management positions. Students advance within their field while improving communication, computation, and workplace skills.

Graduates are eligible to enroll in Daytona State College’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management.

A.S. Certificate That Leads to This Degree: The Business Operations - Entrepreneurship - 091300 A.S. Certificate is embedded within this degree. Students may pursue the degree while simultaneously earning the certificate, or pursue the certificate independently to develop or upgrade technical skills. Outcomes:

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Prepare financial information for management decision-making.
  2. Communicate ideas and concepts effectively.
  3. Apply business-related theories to workplace problems.
  4. Create business documentation using appropriate software applications.
  5. Develop marketing plans using established marketing concepts.
  6. Develop a business plan for a new business venture.
  7. Demonstrate technical proficiency, including theory, applications, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
  8. Plan and initiate projects within a technical field.

Program Requirements

Admission:

This is a Limited Access Program.

  • Meet with the Chair of the School of Business for a pre-admission consultation.
  • Submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions.
    • International transcripts must be evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) at naces.org/members.

Credit for Prior Experience:

Students may be eligible for prior learning credit through completion of a registered apprenticeship, certificate program, or equivalent documented experience.

  • Registered Apprenticeship or Certificate Program:
    • Successfully complete a registered apprenticeship or certificate program consisting of at least 750 contact hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
    • Provide official documentation of program completion.
    • Credit awarded:
      • 750–950 contact hours: up to 24 college credit hours.
      • More than 950 contact hours: up to 27 college credit hours.
  • Equivalent Learning Experience:
    • Other qualifying experience may be eligible for up to 24–27 college credit hours based on documented experience and program evaluation.

Completion:

  • Earn a grade of “C” or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.

Graduates may pursue employment in operations management, production supervision, manufacturing, logistics, and business operations. Common roles include Operations Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Shift Manager, Operations Coordinator, Project Coordinator, and Team Leader. In the Brevard-Flagler-Volusia workforce region, approximately 3,586 operations supervisors and managers are employed in these occupations, with an average annual salary of $64,640 and approximately 214 annual job openings.
