Program Overview
Mission:
The mission of the Criminal Justice Technology Bridge Associate of Science degree program is to equip students to pursue advanced study and meaningful, rewarding careers in the various fields of criminal justice while emphasizing student success and excellence.
Description:
The Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology Bridge is designed for individuals who have completed a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Law Enforcement or Correctional Academy and passed the State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE). Eligible students may transfer vocational academy credit toward the degree program.
The program prepares students for advancement opportunities within the criminal justice field, including supervisory roles and specialized assignments within law enforcement, corrections, and related agencies. Students further develop their understanding of criminal justice systems, constitutional law, criminological theory, criminal justice policy, and professional practices.
The program also satisfies requirements associated with Florida salary incentive eligibility for qualified officers. Credits earned at other institutions may be evaluated for transfer in accordance with Daytona State College transfer credit policies.
Students may complete college coursework and academy training in any sequence; however, successful completion of the academy and state certification examination is required as part of the degree pathway.
Outcomes:
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Exhibit effective communication within the field of criminal justice.
- Exhibit professional behavior within the field of criminal justice.
- Exhibit culturally appropriate behavior within the field of criminal justice.
Completion Requirement:
- Earn a grade "C" or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.
