Program Overview

Mission:

The Accounting Technology Management College Credit Certificate prepares students for entry-level employment in accounting by developing foundational accounting knowledge, applied technical skills, and professional competencies.

Description:

This certificate provides a foundation in accounting theory and practice. Students develop skills in financial accounting, spreadsheet applications, finance, tax preparation, and business operations.

Outcomes:

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate clear and effective communication.
  2. Solve business problems using critical thinking.
  3. Identify and discuss legal and ethical issues in tax preparation, financial planning, and the business environment.
  4. Use appropriate software and hardware to produce tax returns, financial plans, and financial reports.
  5. Demonstrate a basic working knowledge of estate planning, investment planning, and cash management.
  6. Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to record, summarize, and report business transactions.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of corporate finance in the field of business.

Completion Requirement:

  • Earn a grade of "C" or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.
