Program Overview

Mission:

The AutoCAD Foundations (Engineering) Certificate prepares students for entry-level drafting positions in manufacturing, simulation, aerospace, and related fields. The program uses current technology and innovative teaching methods and supports transfer into associate and baccalaureate degree programs.

Description:

This certificate provides a foundation in engineering drawing, 2D drafting, and 3D modeling for manufacturing and engineering applications. Students develop skills using AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks software. Industry certifications validate acquired software competencies.

Outcomes:

Graduates of the program will be able to:

  1. Produce engineering drawings compliant with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards.
  2. Use tools, equipment, materials, and products used in industry.
  3. Apply design software to solve engineering-related problems.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency through industry software certification.
  5. Locate and evaluate virtual models for use in design applications.
  6. Create visual presentations using digital rendering and modeling techniques.

Completion Requirement:

  • Earn a grade "C" or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.
