Program Overview
Mission:
The Drafting and Design Technology Certificate prepares students for entry-level drafting positions across engineering, manufacturing, architectural, and related industries. The program uses current technology and innovative teaching methods and supports transfer into associate and baccalaureate degree programs.
Description:
This certificate provides entry-level skills in drafting and design for engineering, manufacturing, architecture, and related disciplines. Instruction includes engineering drawing, 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and solid modeling. Students develop skills using AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks software.
With the inclusion of general education courses, this certificate applies toward the Drafting and Design Technology A.S. degree.
Outcomes:
Graduates of the program will be able to:
- Produce orthographic drawings compliant with industry standards.
- Use tools, equipment, materials, and products to produce design media.
- Demonstrate proficiency in industry-related computer applications.
- Plan and initiate design projects.
- Create presentations using rendering, animation, prototyping, and printing.
- Evaluate existing models and solutions for use in design applications.
Completion Requirement:
- Earn a grade "C" or better in all program-specific and prerequisite courses.
